Dovahkiin

About

Every baby is different. If you're worried, talk to your health visitor or GP. Not a medical tool, and not a checklist to stress about. Age ranges are broad and every baby takes their own route.

What is this?

Dovahkiin turns your baby's first two years into an RPG-style skill tree. Birth is at the top and age increases as you scroll down. Each column is a branch of development, and each star is a skill. Prerequisites are drawn as constellation lines.

Enter your baby's date of birth and the tree shows what they've unlocked, what they might be ready for now, and what's coming up. Every skill comes with dad quests: things to prepare, play and make safe before the next big moment arrives.

How to read the stars

Age windows are broad on purpose. Plenty of babies reach skills at the far ends of a window, and some skip steps entirely (lots of babies never crawl). There's no "late" here.

Born early?

If you add a due date that's more than two weeks after the date of birth, the tree uses corrected age (age from the due date) until your baby's actual age reaches two years.

Where the ages come from

Age windows are based on public-health sources: the CDC's "Learn the Signs. Act Early." milestone checklists, the WHO Multicentre Growth Reference Study's windows of achievement for gross-motor milestones, and NHS guidance (including weaning and baby-proofing). Safe-sleep quests follow the Lullaby Trust. Each skill lists its sources.

Privacy

Your baby's details and progress are stored only in this browser (localStorage). Nothing is sent to a server, and there are no trackers. You can export, import or reset your progress from the settings menu.

The tree
